Summary

Researchers conducted a randomized clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of Triphalā Kaṣāya, a vaginal wash, with and without the addition of Gomūtra Arka, in the treatment of vaginal candidiasis. The study included participants who were divided into two groups: one received only Triphalā Kaṣāya, while the other received the combination with Gomūtra Arka. The results showed that the combination was more effective in reducing symptoms and eliminating the causative agent of the infection. The use of Gomūtra Arka, which is considered purifying and has antimicrobial properties, may enhance the effects of Triphalā, which is already known for its anti-inflammatory and balancing properties. This study suggests a new approach to treating vaginal candidiasis, integrating Ayurvedic practices with modern clinical evidence. However, limitations such as sample size and the need for further controlled studies were noted.

Key points

  • The combination of Triphalā Kaṣāya with Gomūtra Arka showed greater efficacy in reducing symptoms of vaginal candidiasis.
  • Triphalā is known for its anti-inflammatory and balancing properties, while Gomūtra Arka has antimicrobial properties.
  • The study highlights the importance of integrating Ayurvedic practices with clinical evidence for the treatment of vaginal infections.

✦ For you

If you experience vaginal discomfort, consider trying washes with natural solutions, such as Triphalā, which may help balance the vaginal flora. Pay attention to symptoms and, if they persist, seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional.

For practitionersExpand

Consider including Triphalā Kaṣāya in protocols for vaginal candidiasis, especially in cases where inflammation and flora imbalance are evident. The addition of Gomūtra Arka may be an interesting strategy, but assess the patient's response and the need for adjustments in the formulation.
